Here's some tips and guides for things that people tend to have trouble with. Don't worry if you can't get everything right. That's what the admins are here for!
I highly recommend a few things before you begin.
First, if you've never edited a wikia before, look at the Community Central help pages. They have really easy to understand guides on how to all the basic wikia stuff.
Second, use the source code! The graphical interface is nice for simple stuff but can get messy and frustrating - especially with pictures. Also, the site code is a mix of CSS and MediaWiki's unique language. If you can't find an answer by googleing for "Wiki _____" then try "CSS _____".
Making a New Spirit Page
- If you're not using the New Visual Editor (which you should NOT be doing), click "Contribute" in the top right corner of the screen, then click on "Add a page" in the drop down menu followed by Standard Layout. You can also click a link to a page that doesn't exist and select "Standard Layout". You can change your editor mode in your preferences.
- For convenience, you can also copy and paste the code from this post into an empty page in source mode. If you're using the New Visual Editor, you'll want to do your editing in source mode.
- Fill in what you can
- Remove what shouldn't be there. Don't forget the extra rows on the leveling table.
See Spirit Page Guidelines for an in-depth style guide.
Adding Evolution Materials to a Spirit Page
Go to the "evo requirement" parameters and simply input the name. Very simple.
The names need to be spelled correctly. If you're lazy like me then copy and paste them from here.
Getting Icons
We're (supposedly) using a special way to make the icons on the wikia. They've been taken directly from the game files. You may have to dig around to find the latest batch. Find the required icon, give it a proper name (<Spirit Name> Icon.png), and upload it.
See the How to Add Icons page for more help as well as a zip file of all of the icons up to the posted date.
Using Element Icons
The element icons are actually templates. Their code looks like this
{{water}} {{fire}} {{thunder}}
Don't use something like this ->
[[File:Thunder.png|15px]]
By using the templates we can keep all the icons the same and change what every icon on the wiki looks like, or links to, just by editing the template.
