On-going Suggested feature(s)
Put the whole story transcript in a subpage of an event/quest page.
I want to ask your opinion on how the story transcript should be put into this wikia compared to the game. I'll begin with an example.
The following transcript part is taken from Mystic City Sciorn - In-Quest Transcript - Stage 5. This is how it looks like in the game. Note that the number in bracket doesn't exist in the game. It only shows the number of sentence.
(1) Duga: I'm counting on you. Figure out where they're hiding.
(Tap screen)
(2) Duga: Runal is unrivaled in magical technology research and is the
(Tap screen)
(3) Duga: architect of Gunos Tower. Sciorn needs him.
(Tap screen)
(4) Duga: Plus, he's an old friend. There's no way I'm losing him.
There are 3 options to show it in the wiki.
Option 1
Leave as it is.
(1) Duga: I'm counting on you. Figure out where they're hiding.
(2) Duga: Runal is unrivaled in magical technology research and is the
(3) Duga: architect of Gunos Tower. Sciorn needs him.
(4) Duga: Plus, he's an old friend. There's no way I'm losing him.
Option 2
Merge consecutive dialogues of the same person for sentences which are split into more than one screen in the game.
(1) Duga: I'm counting on you. Figure out where they're hiding.
(2 + 3) Duga: Runal is unrivaled in magical technology research and is the architect of Gunos Tower. Sciorn needs him.
(4) Duga: Plus, he's an old friend. There's no way I'm losing him.
Option 3
Merge all of consecutive dialog of the same person into a single line.
(1 + 2 + 3 + 4) Duga: I'm counting on you. Figure out where they're hiding. Runal is unrivaled in magical technology research and is the architect of Gunos Tower. Sciorn needs him. Plus, he's an old friend. There's no way I'm losing him.
So, which option do you think the best for wiki? Or, do you have another idea?
I do not know if any of this issues can be fixed, but if they can be, please fix them.
1: The ticker showing the countdown to the next book/pot event and whichever evo material quest is currently active does not show up when you access the Wikia through mobile, not even if you force your browser to fetch the desktop version. I dunno if you can make it show up on mobile, but if you can, please make it so. If not, eh, not a huge loss.
2: When entering a Wikia page with code that hides text unless you click on a certain image/link (i.e. any event where there's a storyline), not only will the Wikia automatically show all of the text that's hidden by defaul on Desktop, it is impossible to hide it. Clicking the images will simply show the images as if you clicked on an image in a gallery. This forces people who access the Wikia on mobile to scroll through tons of text just to get to the important stuff.
3: The activity listed under Wiki Activity on the main page is constiently several hours old on mobile. (Numbers pulled out of my ass) Say I enter the main page at 5.25 P.M. The activity listed under Wiki Activity will then display whatever activity would've been shown had I entered it at 3.25 P.M. (or something). I.e., it's a consistent lag, not an arbitrary one. No matter when you enter the main page on Mobile, the stuff shown on Wiki Activity will always be XX.XX hours old.
4: It is impossible to reach blogs through Mobile unless you have the specific links to them at hand. Coupled with #3, this makes it virtually impossible to stay up-to-date with comments on blogs, either just to read them or reply to them, on Mobile.
(Issues #2-4 can be circumvented by using a browser that can be forced to access the Desktop version. This, however, consumes more bandwidth. It also defeats the entirely point of having a mobile version of the Wikia if we have glitches that cripple mobile and force people to use the Desktop version)
I'm working on a glossary page, where all terms (and its definition) used in the wiki and the game are listed in it. The page is currently in my sandbox page User:Alxnr/sandbox, and of course, is far from finished.
I'd like some opinions on basic things regarding the page:
How is the accessibility and readability of the page?
What should be the page name when it's released? I'm thinking of Glossary.
I'd like to propose a new way of putting/typing source code for spirit's background story (from this onward, will be called "story") in their own page.
Before you continue reading, please be warned that it's a long post so that it had to be divided into 4 sections.
Current Condition
From what I've seen so far, most stories are currently displayed with the following rules:
Story is placed under the spirit's invocation note and its effects in its related event.
The entire story script are italicized.
Source code: put double apostrophes ('') surrounding each story line.
The entire story is spaced to the right a bit.
Source code: put a single colon (:) at the start of each story line. This is like putting a single asterisk (*), minus the bullets.
If it is used, the wiki will parse them as <dd> and <dl> HTML tag.
:''--"'''Ultimate'''" and "'''Alone'''"''
:''All common pirates described him with just these two words.''<br />
:''No matter the size of the opposing fleet, he would come out on top.''<br />
:''The same way no one can defeat him, no one was able to survive alongside him.''
:''The people called the ultimate pirate "'''Blackbeard'''"--''
Result (Without the black border)
--"Ultimate" and "Alone"
All common pirates described him with just these two words.
No matter the size of the opposing fleet, he would come out on top.
The same way no one can defeat him, no one was able to survive alongside him.
The people called the ultimate pirate "Blackbeard"--
Proposal
Putting double apostrophes surrounding each line and a single colon at the start of each line are repetitive, tedious tasks. I propose another way of how we type the source code.
New Source Codes
<div class="SpiritStory" style="margin-left: 25px; font-style: italic;">
...
the story goes here
...
</div>
If we apply the previous source code...
<div class="SpiritStory" style="margin-left: 25px; font-style: italic;">
--"'''Ultimate'''" and "'''Alone'''"
All common pirates described him with just these two words.<br />
No matter the size of the opposing fleet, he would come out on top.<br />
The same way no one can defeat him, no one was able to survive alongside him.
The people called the ultimate pirate "'''Blackbeard'''"--
</div>
Requires less typing!
Result (Without the black border)
--"Ultimate" and "Alone"
All common pirates described him with just these two words.
No matter the size of the opposing fleet, he would come out on top.
The same way no one can defeat him, no one was able to survive alongside him.
The people called the ultimate pirate "Blackbeard"--
...can be defined in the SpiritStory class (or something along that name), which will make less typing required! I don't know if it's possible or not.
Oh, one more thing. Can the spirit pages with the source code I proposed be categorized as "Spirits with background story" (or similar) automatically? Perhaps the string "SpiritStory" can be used as the automatic categorization criteria, but I don't actually know how it works, so don't count on that yet.
I've been messing around with the old leveling section (which looks terrible and is very rarely complete).
I've made a new template called Template:Leveling that needs two points to figure out all of the values. Technically it's three - two for the template and one more to figure out the shape of the curve. It can deal with linear and logarithmic curves and I'm pretty sure those are the only types. The new variables extension can do some pretty fun stuff so the max level and element (background color) will be taken automatically from whatever's in the Spirit's infobox.
It doesn't work well with the old poll so I tweaked that a bit too.
Thoughts? I know there's almost 2000 Spirit pages now so implementing it will be very painful. It'll also require copy-pastaing the existing data into a spreadsheet in order to figure out the shape. It might be possible to program in a best fit regression but I'm not about to break out my numerical methods textbook...
The spirit page galleries are getting a little bit cluttered. I propose that we limit the galleries to three pictures: the card shot, the transparent, and the announcements/news display for cards that actually get one. There's no need to have pictures of the cropped card, the invoke screen, or the evolve screen. So the cards would have galleries that show these only:
Do you all agree that this is a good thing to do, or not? Please tell me what you think! :)
Edit: There are a couple pages that don't even have card shots -_- so I can see where this might have some problems. I think my main issue is that the evo screen, cropped card, and invoke screen don't need to be displayed.
Thanks to Alxnr getting regex approved, we can now categorize answer and special skills automatically. I'm looking for community input on what the skill category names will be, since I went with functional names when I first wrote the List of Answer Skills and List of Special Skills pages. As such, some are kind of a mouthful like unconditional single target attack, which conveys the description but isn't very elegant.
There are also some overlap of skills such as combo-based skills in the AS portion and heal skills between the AS and SS portions, which will need to be looked into. My proposal is to add CB, AS and SS in front of skills names so we have CB Trimagic and Trimagic as different categories, and AS heal and SS heal as different categories. Alternatively, combo-based can be added as a separate category such combo-based trimagic will have a combo-based category and a trimagic category. The downside is that the combo category will contain all combo skills including heals and such. If there are some better ideas that I haven't thought of, those would be appreciated.
Finally, while it's possible to catch 95% of skill descriptions, some weird ones like Oliver's "Destroy Enemy with Giant Arms" will not be caught. For these edge cases, I hope users will add the categories manually after the implementation of the new changes.
TL;DR We can categorize skills now.
If there are any other concerns, requests or suggestions, feel free to post them below.
It's pretty clear that the spirit table page is no longer kept up with... and the reason is clear: it's a pain in the ass. I tried to keep up with it myself and grew increasingly frustrated with Kuma's constant change to the invoke pool... thus forcing me to move spirits back and forth from the "removed" section to the "invoke" section. I also noticed that the automated bot has stopped woring at all. Before, it just ran slowly; now, it doesn't fill in any data. No slots are filled even all the way back to Zarajulem. I think we should do something to it but I'm not sure what.
I'm hoping someone can throw ideas this way... please? XD
This thread is for giving feedback on the spirit exp calculator found on the main page and experience page. If you found a bug or have suggestions for improvements, please do so here.
This has been something that I've been considering for awhile that we should have a category list of each hidden power and the spirits that have that hidden power. We can use a similar system to how JP wiki does it with theirs. For example we could sort all the spirits that have a +100 ATK to allies hidden power and categorize them with their spirit color. This would be a handy system to have for those who want to find spirits with panel frequency increases, ally stat increases, and other useful hidden powers. What do you guys think of this kind of project? Would you be willing to help?
So i've notice that they changed the names of the flows evo spirit for B+ and A rank... have to update the wiki now. Also the descriptions for undivided and divided trimagic AS skills have been altered. Please help in updating the new descriptions. For Trimagic, Trimagic+, Trimagic++, Nightmare End, and Infinity, the changes have been made. Only unique skill names haven't been altered.
In Template:Spirit Infobox, parameter evo number is used only for evo indicator display. There are several special cases, and seemingly no consensus on how to handle those. This proposal attempts to make such a consensus.
Evo stage of a particular card can be summed up to 2 indicators:
In-game indicator: The Evo indicator shown in spirit info screen, with some orb slots empty or filled with elemental orbs.
"Perceived" stage: stage as understood by players, after considering actual evolution path (explained more below).
For normal evo spirits, these 2 indicators matches: e.g. Iris (Leader of Victory) is the 2nd stage of a 4-stage evolution path, and indicated as 2/4. However, there are other cases:
Spirits that have only 1 evo stage (usually high rank like S, SS, and being alternate version of other similarly high rank spirits), thus perceived as 1/1, but indicated in-game as last stage (usually 4/4) despite that there are no earlier stages. E.g. Yukka Ende (Divine Traveler of Time).
Spirits that are evolvable, but is shown as at highest stage. E.g. Enchanted Sprocket (which is perceived as 2/3).
Spirits with split evo path, as of now all of them has 4 stages, can only evolve to stage 3, then have to be fed to a helper spirit to reach stage 4. The stages can be perceived as 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4. In this case both indicators actually match, but on the wiki they are now shown as 1/3, 2/3, 3/3, 2/2, and with the helpers as 1/2, which is another system. E.g. Pazza (Witch crazed for Love) + Perfume of Hatred = Pazza Melerana (Love Hating Witch).
Spirits that evolve to other spirits, currently there is only one family tree of Ignite, Blamd, Dogma, Wyvern, Bahamut, Arlia. Each one can be considered a whole different spirit on its own right, with "special connection" between them. Both indicators match for these. (Note: Dogma is also in single-stage case mentioned above).
The proposal is to use either one of 2 above mentioned indicators uniformly on this wiki. (The 1/3, 2/3, 3/3, 2/2 system doesn't make much sense imo). Special evo spirits will need to be checked and corrected.
I'd recommend the second indicator: perceived stage (use your common sense). In that case, for split evo helper spirits, 1/1 is preferred, although 1/2 is fine.
A related issue is how split evo path are presented, which may be discussed later on.
We have a new update of icons from the game's cache. This post is a bit late since people are already working on it but anyway.
This zip file , courtesy of VermillionOcean, has a new port of the game's icon cache. All icons that have been hand cropped since the last port need replacement.
Important! The "image" parameter of the Spirit Infobox is now obsolete. The icon image will be automatically named based on the page name. If an icon is missing just click the red "Upload an Icon" link and you'll automatically be sent to a page that'll upload a file with the correct name. If you rename a page, if there was a spelling error or Kuma changed it, then the icon needs to be renamed too.
Is there any way to automate the input for the Spirit Index page? perhaps by linking the index numbers from spirit page templates? I'm looking to automate it somewhat like the Spirits page (if it is actually automated). Don't really know where to learn this stuff. Tried surfing around the community wikia but i just got lost X_X and not to mention confused. Any help is appreciated =D even if you have no technical knowledge.
If there isn't a way then i guess we'll just have to manually input the data =/
I'm going to list down a few things that need to be done. Continue listing things in the comments if you can think of more.
Things needed to be done to keep our site up do date:
Evo spirits family spirits need to be changed since they can now evolve.
the 3 starters' pages need to be updated as their evo forms are now 4/5 and the evo materials required are changed.
Evo materials for the starters changed and the pages need updating.
So people have been asking about team templates for their use pages and I had some free time. Introducing team flair!
Tada. I made an example with some random values. You can choose an element theme, give it a name, have 5 main slots with level/stats/powers, and 10 more minor slots. The icons might be a bit finicky if the images weren't named correctly.
The following is one with some random values (lazy). I have some more on my page.
Seeing how a contributor created the list of answers skills page, the original answer skills in the Skills page have now been duplicated and can be found in both pages. I find this unneeded and messy. After the List of Answer Skills page is completed (or at least more detailed) I plan to simplify the AS section in the Skills page to more of a summary on the basic categories of skills. I think it's really redundant to have the same data on both pages.
This post is mainly to get a consensus from wiki users as it's important to me that a general approval from wiki users before i do anything to one of the main wiki pages =)
Also, feel free to let me know your thoughts on this and any suggestions you may have.
Do you think i summarise the page?
